Cohn, Shin Lead Terps at Cavalier Classic

April 27, 2008

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Senior Adam Cohn posted his best finish as a Terrapin in the final regular-season event of 2008 to lead University of Maryland players Sunday at the Cavalier Classic men's golf tournament hosted by the University of Virginia.

Cohn tied for 12th with a 36-hole total of 2-over-par 146 to lead Maryland finishers. It marked his best individual placement as a Maryland player and was the second top-20 finish of his career. Cohn fired a 75 Sunday, but led the Terps with a 71 during Saturday's first round.

Freshman Donnie Shin had back-to-back 75s to tie for 30th at 150. Andrew Kay tied for 44th individually at 152, with his best round coming Saturday with a 73. Chris Gold finished at 153 with a tie for 51st following a 75 on Saturday, while Tom Hanna III tied for 75th at 157.

As a team, Maryland shot a 305 on Sunday to tie George Mason for sixth at 599. Host Virginia won the team event with a 575 total that included a 282 in Saturday's rain-delayed opening round. Augusta State was second at 578, with NC State in third at 584.

Two Terrapins played as individuals in the tournament. Jake Daly tied for 81st with a 158 total following a 76 on Sunday, while freshman Kempe Holladay finished at 163 and tied for 94th in his first tournament action as a collegiate player.

Henrik Norlander of Augusta State won medalist honors with a 5-under-par total of 139. He shot a 68 on Sunday to earn a one-shot victory over Greg Carlin of Virginia and Brad Revell of NC State.

Maryland will now await word on a possible invitation to the NCAA Regionals, which will be announced later this week.
