Kim, Cordes, Dilz and Greene lead Terps in Day 2 of ACC Play

The Terps closed Day 2 with Maryland's largest point gather of the day. Kim, Cordes, Dilz and Greene swam a third place, NCAA B-cut qualifying time of 1:19.91 to add 32 points for an eighth place finish leading into the third day of competition. The men's swimming and diving team compiled 61 points on Day 2 of competition at the 2008 ACC Championships to finish with 109 points.

Sophomore Chris Rouchard opened day two with a 16th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Sophomore Brian Honore, senior Captain Ken Golaszeweski and freshman Kirk Jackson also had 18th, 23rd and 36th in the event.

In the 200-yard IM, junior Andy Dilz, junior Eric Cullen, freshman Mitch Challacombe and freshman Chris Sanford placed 18th, 19th, 31st and 38th for the Terps.

Freshman Nick Cordes scored the first points for Maryland of the day with a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Cordes scored 16 points for the Terrapins with an NCAA qualifying time of 19.88.

Junior Dong Kim swam a 20.70 in the 50 free, just shy of an NCAA-B cut time. Kim finished eighth adding 11 points for the Terps. Sophomore Ryan Greene, senior Eric Thomasson, junior John Closs, freshman Matt Gruszecki and senior Captain Jake DiPiazza placed in the preliminaries.

In diving, senior Derek Hock had a 19th place finish, compiling 227.55 points.
