Terps Qualify For Southeast Regionals

April 2, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four sophomore University of Maryland gymnasts have qualified to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by the University of Florida on April 12. The championship is set for 7:00 p.m. at the O'Connell Center.

For the second year in a row, Brandi George qualified to compete in the all-around and Talia Tossone will perform on the balance beam. Allison Dama will make her first appearance at regionals on the uneven bars; she tied for second place on the event at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship last week. Michele Brenner will compete on the floor exercise.

The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors, who are not on an advancing team, from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Athens, Ga., April 24-26, hosted by the University of Georgia.

In addition, the event winners at the regional championships will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
