PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's and Women's Basketball teams will host Florida A&M University (FAMU) tomorrow afternoon in Homecoming 2008 at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. The Lady Hawks (15-10, 8-4 MEAC) rebounded from a two game slide with a dominating win over Norfolk State on Monday, 84-65. UMES was led by April McBride (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle H.S.) who posted her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Tiffany Reid who (Philadelphia, Pa./National Christian Academy) collected her second, finishing with 16 points and 10 boards. Queenique Tyler (Ft. Washington, Md./Potomac H.S.) posted a new career-high with 16 points as well, just one game after setting her previous mark. Casey Morton (Mardela Springs, Md./Mardela H.S.) also added 15 points as she rounded out the double digit scoring. FAMU (11-13, 2-10 MEAC) enters the game having dropped two their last two games, including an 85-64 decision to Coppin State on Monday. Stephanie Foster leads the Rattlers scoring attack with 14.1 points per game. Foster finished with a team-high 14 points in the first meeting between the teams earlier this season. UMES spoiled FAMU's homecoming earlier this season with a 60-50 win on the road. Reid led all scorers with 16 points in the game. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Read tomorrow's game notes here. The Hawks (4-23, 2-10 MEAC) dropped their second consecutive game after a second half rally came up just short against an opportunistic Norfolk State on Monday, 68-61. UMES was led by Marc Davis (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook H.S.) who finished with a team-high 19 points and five assists, while Ed Tyson (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook H.S.), reigning MEAC Player of the Week, added 17 points. Gary Lee (Flint, Mich./Northwestern University) matched a career-high, finishing with 17 points, which all came in the second period. BJ Nimocks (Detroit, Mich./Cloud County C.C.) also posted a career-high with 11 rebounds.
FAMU (9-16, 5-6 MEAC) comes in after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Coppin State, 69-68, on a last second tip-in Monday night. The Rattlers offensive attack is led by Leslie Robinson who averages 14.5 points per game. In the first meeting against the Hawks this season, Robinson finished with a game-high 19 points. UMES dropped the first game this season to FAMU on the road, 72-62. Tyson led the Hawks with a team-high 18 points.
