On a day in which the current Memphis program celebrated its past in pre-game festivities, the outcomes of the Saturday's doubleheader versus Dallas Baptist were not much to cheer about. The Patriots scored two runs in the 10th inning to outlast the Tigers 6-4 in game one, and then used its potent offense and solid pitching to rout the home team 16-2 in the nightcap.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth Cole Shelton picked a fine time to hit his first home run at Nat Buring Stadium. After Trey Wiedman singled, the junior blasted a two-run bomb over the rightfield wall to pull Memphis even with DBU, but with a runner on third and one out, the Tigers were unable to get him in, forcing extra frames.

In the 10th, Dallas Baptist got a leadoff double by Trevor Head. Head moved to third on an infield single by Ryan Goins and a wild pitch allowed him to score the go-ahead run. Goins came around to score on a single by Brandon Bantz and Memphis could not muster any offense in the home half of the inning for the 6-4 final.

Ryan Enos led off the game two with a solo shot to rightfield and that would be the tale of the game as his teammates followed by banging out 16 hits and scoring 13 runs over the final three frames to seal the series sweep. Enos, who went 2-for-2 in the game, reached base and scored in each of his five trips to the plate. He added a seventh-inning double to his leadoff homer.

In the shortened game, DBU starter Ryan Goins no-hit Memphis through the first three innings en route to picking up his third win of the year. He fanned five, but struggled with control late in the game, walking six.

After drawing a leadoff walk in the third, Goins came around to score from first on a double by Jason Krizan. Krizan made it 3-0 when he scored on an RBI-single off the bat of Evan Bigley.

Memphis kept it close with a run in the fourth on a single by Chris Kirkland, but as the Patriots did all series long, they responded with runs in the next half-inning. This time they plated four to put the game away, 8-1.

The Tigers countered with a single run in the fifth after Goins walked four straight batters, but again DBU scored a lone tally in the sixth. The Patriots put up big numbers in the seventh and final frame. They sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs off of two Tiger relievers. Austin Knight's three-run blast highlighted the inning.

Will Hudgens (1-5) took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings.

Memphis will return to action in the midweek with a two-game series versus Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Tigers and Blue Riaders will take the field for a pair of contests on Tues., April 22 and Wed., April 23. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
