MEMPHIS, TENN. - Seven home games will highlight the Tiger football schedule for the third straight season, including a key rivalry match-up on ESPN with the Louisville Cardinals at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on October 10.

The Tigers, which participated in their fourth bowl game in the last five years in 2007, open with Ole Miss in Oxford on August 30. This meeting will mark the fifth straight season that Memphis has opened with the Rebels, and the 31st time in the history of the series which began in 1921. This game will also be the only non-conference road game for the Tigers as the U of M will host Arkansas State on Sept. 27, Louisville on Oct. 10 and an opponent to be announced at a later time.

Due to a scheduling conflict with Chattanooga, which Memphis played three straight seasons from 2004-06, UM officials are continuing to work on the final home contest that could fall on Sept. 20, Oct. 25 or Nov. 15.

For the first time in 11 seasons, Memphis will open its Conference USA schedule at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The Tigers will host the Rice Owls on Sept. 6 and then will travel to Huntington, W.Va., on Sept. 13 to face the Thundering Herd of Marshall. Memphis will also have home C-USA meetings with Southern Miss (Nov. 1), UCF (Nov. 22) and Tulane on November 29.

In addition to the trip to Huntington, the Tigers will also travel to UAB, East Carolina and SMU in league action. The Memphis-UAB match-up will be the first of two weekday games for the Tigers as they travel to the Blazers on Thursday evening, Oct. 2, and then will welcome Louisville the following Friday. CSTV has selected the game with UAB for broadcast, and ESPN will carry the Louisville game.

Season tickets will be on sale soon through the official Tiger Athletic Department website at www.gotigersgo.com or by calling the ticket office at 901-678-2331.

The Tigers will begin spring practice on March 18 and will conclude the spring session with the Blue-Gray Game to be held April 12 at noon at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
