LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team battled, but fell short on the opening day matches of the ITA Southeast Regionals Thursday at the University of Kentucky.

Sophomore Spencer Heflin lost his match to Alabama's Houssam Yassine, 6-4, 7-6 (7) in the tiebreak, while fellow sophomore Charlie Ramsay lost to Auburn's Pawel Dilaj, 6-2, 6-4.

Freshman Michael Gaerthoeffner was forced to default his match, after having to withdraw in the singles finals of the C draw at the University of North Florida Tournament on Sunday.

Senior Amrit Narasimhan will open his singles schedule on Friday, facing the winner of the Dan Buikeman (Alabama) vs. Aaron Krisan (South Alabama) match at 2 p.m.. Buikeman and Krisan will face off at 8 a.m.

The Tigers will then play doubles, Friday night with doubles play slated to begin at 8 p.m.
