EL PASO, Texas - The University of Memphis women's golf team 2008 season came to an end Wednesday as the Lady Tigers finished fifth in the Conference USA Championships in El Paso. The Lady Tigers shot a 324 as a team in Wednesday's final round.

Memphis stood in eighth place after the opening round, but battled its way to fifth over the final 36 holes. Freshman Alexa Porter led the squad with a 75 on Wednesday giving her a total of 226 for the tournament. Porter putted her way to a tie for second place in her first conference tournament.

Junior Rachel Larson shot a 236 for the tournament to finish in a tie for 16th place. Larson was one of two players to record an under-par performance in Tuesday's second round. Senior Dawn-Marie Conaty carded a 241 to finish tied for 27th. Sophomore Leslie Grabeman shot a 248 to finish in a tie for 34th.

Tulsa pulled away from the field over the last 36 holes to capture the conference championship and a berth in an NCAA regional. Woeri Shin of Tulsa shot a 220 for the tournament to win the individual competition.

Porter's 75 was among the lowest scores of the final round. Shin's 73 and a 73 by Paige Martin of SMU were all that topped it. Michaela Cavener of Tulsa also shot a 75 Wednesday.
