MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Julia Ignacio signs with the University of Memphis women's soccer team. She hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Ignacio is the sixth member of the 2008 recruiting class and the second Canadian to join the champion Lady Tigers.

Ignacio played forward for Archbishop O'Leary, under Coach Ross Ongaro. She was named 2005-06 Rookie of the Year, where she is also an honors student.

She plays club for the Edmonton Inter U18-T1 and Northwest United in the Major League.

Julia is a currently on the Alberta Provincial Team as well as a member of the U-20 Canadian National Pool.

Ignacio is the daughter of Valentino and Estela Ignacio. She has three siblings Erica, Ethan and Armani.

"Julia is an extremely crafty player. She is very versatile and can play numerous positions," said Head Coach Brooks Monaghan. "In my opinion, she is best suited as a center forward or attacking center mid. She likes to take people on; is very skilled and scores goals. Julia is the type of player that makes players around her better. We're very fortunate to have her join our squad."
