The University of Memphis women's tennis team will wrap up its 2007 fall season with its own home tournament, Friday and Saturday. Eight teams will participate in the two-day tournament, playing in four singles brackets and two doubles brackets. Participants for this year's tournament include Ball State, Lipscomb, Memphis, Murray State, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, UALR and Western Kentucky. The tournament will be played on the courts at Rhodes College due to the condition of the U of M courts on campus. Admission is free, although visitors are encouraged to check-in with the guard on duty upon entering the Rhodes Campus to get cleared for parking on campus.

Six Lady Tigers will compete on Friday in two rounds of singles and in two rounds of doubles. Sophomore Marjorie Ondeck and junior Ekin Zafir will open in the Division 2 singles draw. Ondeck will open against Lipscomb's Caitlin Khouri, while Zafir will face Lipscomb's Claire Landry in the opening round.

In Division 3 singles, sophomores Dara Toulch and Amanda Brown will try to advance to the championship. Toulch will open against Lipscomb's Olivia Ellis, while Brown, a semifinalist in Division 4 singles last year as a freshman, will open against Southern Illinois' Amanda Taillefer.

In the Division 4 draw, freshman Lindsey Wiseman will receive a first round bye and will face the winner of the Evgenia Yartseva (Tenn Tech)/Francis Trigg (WKU) match while junior Kristin Chamberlain will open against UALR's Nathalia Garay.

In doubles play, Memphis will have one tandem in the Division 1 draw, as Marjorie Ondeck and Dara Toulch will open against Lipscomb's team of Ellis and Jackson. This will be the first time Ondeck and Toulch have teamed up this season in doubles, as Ondeck is 5-5 in doubles so far this fall when teamed with Wiseman.

Wiseman will also have a new doubles teammate, teaming with Kristin Chamberlain in Division 2 doubles. The tandem will face Western Kentucky's Caplinger and Oberle in the first round on Friday. Rounding out the Division 2 bracket for Memphis will be the duo of Ekin Zafir and Amanda Brown, another first-time tandem this fall. The Lady Tiger teammates will receive a first round bye and will play the winner of the Lipscomb/Ball State match Friday afternoon.

The tournament will open with two rounds of doubles play, Friday, followed by two rounds of singles play. Play begins at 9 a.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Results will be available throughout the day Friday at www.gotigersgo.com, while results will be posted Saturday at the completion of play, also at www.gotigersgo.com.
