Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Athletic Department will be taking part in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Think Pink initiative Saturday, Feb. 9. Think Pink is designed to raise breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, and in communities.

More than 800 schools across the country are taking part in Think Pink Week Feb. 8-17. Mercyhurst will be taking part in the event during its men's and women's basketball games Feb. 9. The women's basketball team hosts Hillsdale at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3:00 p.m. As well, the department will also be taking donations at the women's hockey game against Wayne State at 3:00 p.m. that day and at the men's hockey game against Air Force at 7:05 p.m.

The Mercyhurst athletic department will be raffling off t-shirts at each of the four athletic events that day and will be doing a 50/50 ticket sale at each contest as well. Donations will also be accepted and donors will receive a pink wristband. All proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
