Male Athlete of the Week
Brian McTear, Basketball
Junior Brian McTear helped the Lakers extend their winning streak to six games by scoring a career-high 25 points in a 90-80 win over Hillsdale. McTear sank nine free throws in the final two minutes to help preserve the victory. He also led the team with five assists and grabbed six rebounds. On Thursday, he scored 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range and handed out three assists as the Lakers topped Wayne State, 57-50.

Female Athlete of the Week
Stephanie Prischak, Basketball
Junior guard Stephanie Prischak scored a career high 26 points and tied a career high with four three-pointers against Wayne State Thursday. She added 13 points and four rebounds against Hillsdale Saturday. Against Wayne State, Prischak scored 20 points in the first half, leaving her just three points shy of her career high by the break. She is currently second on the team, averaging 14.1 points per game. She is shooting 45 percent from three point range and is tenth in the GLIAC in three pointers made.

Wrestling
The Mercyhurst wrestling team, ranked No. 15 in the country, upset No. 11 Ashland Wednesday and then defeated future PSAC opponent Shippensburg Sunday. The Lakers rolled past Ashland 24-15 behind a 17-2 technical fall victory by Trevor Gallo and an 8-0 major decision win by Andy Lamancusa. Mercyhurst defeated Shippensburg 28-19 in a match that came down to the final bout. The Lakers led 22-19 heading into the heavyweight match and junior Kenny Bluska sealed the victory with a pin in 4:44. The Lakers built the lead by getting a pin by Brian Pogel in just 1:49 and a major decision victory by Hudson Harrison.
