Male Athlete of the Week
Terry Smith, Men's Basketball
Senior Terry Smith set four school records in Mercyhurst's 81-69 win over Ashland Saturday. Smith scored 37 points, the most by a Mercyhurst player in nearly 15 years, and broke the school record by making nine three-pointers. He also attempted 17 three-pointers, the most ever by a Laker in one game and had 29 points in the second half, breaking John Green's record of 27 in 1983. Finally, Smith set the new single-season three-point mark in the game and now has 83. If that was not enough, Smith added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Female Athlete of the Week
Vicki Bendus, Women's Hockey
With sophomore star Meghan Agosta on the sideline nursing an injury this weekend, freshman Vicki Bendus took over. She scored her first career hat trick and added two assists in a 5-2 win over conference foe Niagara Friday that propelled the Lakers back into a first place tie in College Hockey America. She then added a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Niagara Saturday.

Men's Basketball
The Mercyhurst men's basketball team clinched a GLIAC playoff bid for the third consecutive season this week. In an 81-69 win over Ashland Saturday, the Lakers set five school records. Mercyhurst made 17 three-pointers, just three shy from the all-time GLIAC record, as the Lakers rolled past the Eagles to clinch the No. 3 seed in the South Division and equal their conference win total from a year ago. Senior guard Terry Smith had 37 points, 29 of them in the second half, and made nine three-pointers in the contest. T.J. Mathis added 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Brian McTear had 14 points and four assists.
