Male Athlete of the Week
Matt Lundin, Hockey
Junior Matt Lundin saved 69 of 71 shots as Mercyhurst swept Canisius in the opening round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament 4-1 and 2-1 in overtime. He made 41 saves in the opening game and followed that up with 28 saves Saturday. He helped the Lakers snuff out 17 of 18 power play opportunities for Canisius, including four 5-on-3 chances. It was just the second time this year that Mercyhurst allowed one goal or less in back-to-back games.

Female Athlete of the Week
Stephanie Jones, Hockey
Senior captain Stephanie Jones came up big in the College Hockey America Tournament, helping the Lakers to their sixth consecutive tournament championship. She scored the first goal of the semifinal contest, unassisted, to lead Mercyhurst to a 4-2 win over Niagara. With the championship game tied at 1-1 in overtime, Jones put the contest away with a score 3:29 into the extra session.

Women's Hockey
The Mercyhurst women's hockey team won its sixth consecutive College Hockey America championship by defeating Niagara 4-2 in the tournament semifinals and then beating rival Wayne State 2-1 in overtime in the finals. In the win over Niagara, senior captain Stephanie Jones put the Lakers on top 1-0 in the first period. The score remained the same until Niagara tied the game in the third, but Natalie Payne and Valerie Chouinard scored back-to-back and Meghan Agosta finished with an empty-netter to move on to the championship. Against Wayne State, Agosta put the Lakers on top 1-0 in the second but Wayne State answered back two minutes later and the contest went to overtime tied at 1-1. Jones capped the tournament with a goal 3:29 into overtime to give Mercyhurst the championship.
