Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Athletic Department presented a check for $1,000 to the Erie City Special Olympics Sunday as a donation for proceeds from the first Laker Showdown Talent Show.

Mercyhurst's Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) developed an athletic talent show that took place March 18 featuring athletic teams showing their off-field talents. Admission to the event was $3 and all proceeds were donated to the Special Olympics.

The presentation was held in conjunction with National Student-Athlete Recognition Day on Sunday, April 6 and was acted out between games of Mercyhurst's softball doubleheader with Ashland.
