Mercyhurst and Gannon to Play Doubleheader Wednesday at Jerry Uht Park
April 21, 2008
Erie, Pa. - The location of the Mercyhurst baseball doubleheader against Gannon scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 has been moved to Jerry Uht Park, the home of Erie SeaWolves, the AA-affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and the second game will begin approximately two hours later, allowing the two rival squads to play under the lights. Admission to the doubleheader is free. Concessions will be made available by the SeaWolves staff, and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Mercyhurst Student Government is also providing transportation to the ballpark and back to campus for any students interested in attending. The shuttle will pick up behind the Mercyhurst Athletic Center next to the athletic training rooms every hour beginning at 4 p.m., and ending at 8 p.m. For more information, contact Mercyhurst Student Government President, Christina Coovert at msgpres@mercyhurst.edu. The Lakers and Golden Knights last met at the minor league ballpark in 2004, splitting a four-game series. It will be this senior class' first opportunity to play on the field. Jerry Uht Park was built in 1995 and underwent $4 million renovations in 2006 that included a state-of-the-art video scoreboard and a two-level picnic area down the right field line. It is located at 110 East 10th Street in Erie. Mercyhurst and Gannon have met twice already this season with Mercyhurst winning a 5-4 extra-inning game, and Gannon earning a 1-0 win in the second game. |
