Brandon Hill Named Football Gazette All-American

Feb. 11, 2008

Pittsburg, Kan. - Mercyhurst College senior tight end Brandon Hill was named NCAA Division II Third Team All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

Hill was Mercyhurst's Team Most Valuable Player after a highly productive senior season. He caught 40 passes for 633 yards and four touchdowns. Also the team's punter, Hill averaged 36.5 yards per punt on 35 punts in 2007. He was selected as a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) Second Team All-Conference selection as well as being named a Daktronics Second Team All-Region and Football Gazette Second Team All-Region selection.

Against Ashland, Hill had his best performance of the season, catching nine passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. He was also a tremendous run blocker, helping junior tailback Richard Stokes break team records for season and career rushing yards. As a team captain, Hill helped Mercyhurst scored 353 points, an average of 32.1 per game, to break the school record for scoring offense in a season. The squad went 4-7 overall and 3-7 in its final season in the GLIAC before moving to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the 2008 season.
