Cameron, Lundin and Pierce Make Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll

Jan. 28, 2008

Wakefield, Mass. - Mercyhurst freshman forward Steve Cameron, junior goaltender Matt Lundin, and junior forward Matt Pierce were named to the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Honor Roll today. All three were instrumental in salvaging a pair of 3-3 overtime ties last weekend at Bentley.

Cameron had the game-tying goal early in Friday's third period. That goal moved him into double-digit points this season with six goals and four assists.

Lundin stopped a oombined 77 of 83 (.928) Bentley shots in the two games as the Lakers gained two points to hold down fifth place in the conference.

Pierce recorded the first two-goal game of his career Saturday. He, too, joined the double-digit point plateau this season with five goals and five helpers.

The Lakers, 7-14-5 overall and 7-6-5 in the conference, play yet another critical two games next weekend, this time at Holy Cross (8-10-6, 7-8-3). The Crusaders came to Erie late in October to start conference play and left with a 4-1 win and a 2-2 overtime tie. HC is tied for sixth in the league, just two points behind the fifth-place Lakers. The top five teams at the end of the regular season will host a best 2-of-3 quarterfinal series.
