Wakefield, Mass. - Mercyhurst junior forward Matt Pierce ended the 2007-08 season with a bang by being named Atlantic Hockey Association Player of the Month. Pierce and the Lakers won four straight conference playoff games before being eliminated 5-4 in double overtime by Air Force in the championship game.

Pierce had an 11-game scoring streak to end the season. He scored a power play goal in thr Lakers' last six games of the season and contributed three assists. Pierce tallied Mercyhurst's first goal in each of the last four games. For his efforts Pierce was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Tournament Team and was selected to the conference Honor Roll March 17.
