Erie, Pa.- After upsetting No. 7-ranked Ashland at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, the Mercyhurst wrestling team moved up to No. 12 in the most recent NCAA Division II Rankings.

Mercyhurst moved up four spots after being ranked 16th in the previous poll. The team has a 4-8 dual mark this year with five defeats coming against Division I programs and three losses coming to teams ranked in the top 11 in Division II.

Individually, junior Brian Pogel jumped two spots to No. 3 at 149 pounds. Pogel, with 19 victories on the season, remained behind No. 1-ranked Todd Meneeley of Nebraska-Omaha despite winning by an 11-3 major decision in a head-to-head meeting at the national duals.

Mercyhurst will compete in the East Coast Duals in Pembroke, N.C., Friday and Saturday.
