Scanzano College Hockey America Rookie of the Week

Detroit, Mich. - Mercyhurst freshman forward Jesse Scanzano was named College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week today. Meanwhile, the Lakers are still seventh in the latest USCHO.com women's poll, but their lead is now one point over eighth-place Connecticut. Sscanzano scored two goals and added an assist in a 1-1 weekend at Wayne State. She assisted on the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-1 verdict before tallying her 11th goal of the season into an empty net. She scored the first goal of the game on Saturday on the power play. The Lakers lost that contest 3-2 in overtime. This is Scanzano's 6th CHA Rookie of the Week award this season. Mercyhurst will conclude the regualr season this weekend with a home-and-home against CHA-rival Robert Morris. The lakers and Colonials meet Friday night at the Ice Center. The CHA Tournament takes place the following weekend at Niagara.
