Black, Rhoades and Hernandez Lead Metro State At Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Lisa Black and Kenny Rhoades each won two events, while Alejandro Hernandez won one event and was in the top three in two others, to lead Metro State at the 10th annual Colorado College Classic, this past weekend at Schlessman Natorium.

Black won the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.35) and the 200-yard backstroke, while placing second in the 200-yard medley and third in the 200-yard free. Hernandez won the 200-yard butterfly, while he was second in the 200-yard medley and third in the 400-yard medley (4:26.21). On the diving board, Kenny Rhoades won the one (488.45) and three meters (464.74).

As a team, the Roadrunner women placed third with 500 points, finishing behind Colorado with 642 and Colorado College with 518 points. Mesa State (377) was fourth, followed by Texas-Permian Basin (367) and Colorado Mines (310). The men were fifth with 344 points. Texas-Permian Basin won with 794.5 points, followed by Colorado (552), Colorado College (452.50) and Colorado School of Mines (424).

Also for the women, Jessica Shaddock won the 100-yard freestyle (56.38), while the women's 400-yard free relay also won. Meredith Lanphier was second in the 500-yard free (25.82), while Kathy Lind was second in the 100-yard back.

For the men, Evan Venrick was second in the 500-yard free, while Kevin Braun was third in the 200-yard back.

Metro State returns to the pool at the Rocky Mountain Invitational in Golden, Colo., Feb. 14-16.
