Feb. 14, 2008
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - For the second consecutive season, Metro State is picked to win the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's tennis regular-season title, while the women are picked to finish fifth, as the conference released its preseason tennis polls. Individually, Sascha Ruckelshausen was named the RMAC Preseason Men's Tennis Player of the Year, while freshman Brandon Lupo was also named to the preseason all-RMAC team. On the men's side, last year's regular-season champion Nebraska-Kearney was picked second, while Western New Mexico was picked third. On the women's side, Mesa State was picked to win the title, followed by Nebraska-Kearney, Western New Mexico, Montana State-Billings and Metro State. Teri Mayeda of Mesa State was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year. No Roadrunners were named to the six-person preseason all-RMAC team. The preseason polls are voted on by the league coaches and they cannot vote for their own team or players. The Roadrunner men finished second in the RMAC last year and advanced to the NCAA regionals, while the women finished fifth in the conference.
