April 28, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State's Brandon Lupo earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's tennis Freshman of the Year honors, while Dave Alden was named the men's Coach of the Year the league announced.

For the Roadrunner men, the regular-season and tournament champions, Lupo (No. 2 singles), Angelo Faustino (No. 3 singles), Riley Meyer (No. 4 singles), Ryan Campbell (No. 5 singles) and Sean Carlton (No. 6 singles) all earned first-team all-conference accolades. No. 1-singles player Sascha Ruckelshausen was named to the second team. In doubles action, Faustino and Campbell earned first-team honors at No. 2 doubles, while Ruckelshausen and Meyer (No. 1) and Carlton and Lupo (No. 3) all earned second-team honors.

Alden earns his first men's RMAC award after earning the women's honor in 2004.

For the women, Katie Reitz and Alexis Alvarez were named second team at No. 3 doubles.

William Jacome of Nebraska-Kearney and Heidi Lehman of Montana State-Billings were each named Player of the Year, while Jerry Peach of Montana State Billings was named women's Coach of the Year.
