Mesa State Finishes Four-Game Sweep, 15-6

GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. -- Mesa State jumped out to a 12-0 lead and went on to defeat Metro State, 15-6, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference baseball action, Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field.

With the win, Mesa State completed a four-game sweep and won the RMAC Championship. The Mavericks are now the top seed and host for next week's RMAC Tournament, despite trailing the Roadrunners in the conference race by three games with four to play.

Mesa State led 12-0 after six innings and 15-2 after eight. The Roadrunners scored four runs in the ninth but it was not enough. Reece Gorman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Michael Molinar was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Metro State. Andrew Martinez was 2-for-4 with three RBI for Mesa State.

With the win, Mesa State improves to 40-15 overall, 31-9 in the RMAC, while Metro State falls to 38-17 overall, 30-10 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners are the No. 2 seed in this week's RMAC Tournament and take on No. 5-seed Colorado School of Mines at 11 a.m., Wednesday in Grand Junction, Colo.
