April 6, 2008
The No. 9 Metro State baseball team defeated University of Nebraska-Kearney, 14-13 in 10 innings, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action, Sunday afternoon in Kearney, Neb. The two teams had no problem piling on the runs throughout the game, entering the tenth inning tied at 12-12. MSCD batted first and started with a walk from Reece Gorman. Jake Palmer followed with a single to left field to put two men on. Both men advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch. Jordan Stouffer singled to center field to bring two runs across and give the 'Runners a 14-12 lead. UNK put a runner on in the top of the 10th and brought him across on a sacrifice fly. Josh Eckert finished off the rally attempt by striking out the final batter to earn the victory. Metro State improved to 30-6 overall and 22-2 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners return to action Wednesday with a game against the Air Force JV Team in Colorado Springs. The time of the game is still to be determined. |
