No. 9 Metro State Baseball Takes Two from Colorado Christian

The No. 9 Metro State baseball team swept two games from Colorado Chistian, Saturday in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play. The 'Runners dominated the day, taking the first game, 20-5 and the second, 20-10.

In the first game of the day, the 'Runners exploded for eight runs in the second inning. The 'Runners connected on three home runs in the innings; three-run shots from Dakota Nahm and Jake Palmer and a solo dinger from Troy Spahn. Metro State added eight more runs in the eighth inning to seal the victory. Sophomore Ted Jamison pitched eight innings allowing four earned runs and striking out nine.

The second game was another slugfest for the 'Runners scoring 20 runs on 22 hits. Freshman Brennan Brown had two home runs and a double, scoring four times and knocking in a career-high seven runs. Spahn added his second home run of the day along with four RBI's and two hits. Derek Colbert (3-0) earned the victory pitching the final 4 1/3 innings and allowing just two runs on five hits.

Metro State improves to 36-9 overall and 30-4 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners return to action Tuesday at CSU-Pueblo.
