Three-Point Shooting Leads Metro State Over Chadron State, 74-52

CHADRON, NEB. -- Metro State shot 16-for-27 from three-point range in the game as the Roadrunners defeated Chadron State, 74-52, in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game, Thursday evening at Armstrong Gymnasium. Of Metro State's 23 field goals, 16 were from beyond the arc. It was Metro State's 17th consecutive victory over Chadron State in the series. Jesse Wagstaff had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while Terrell Burgess had 15 points and Daniel Bass also added 15 points, all on treys, for the Roadrunners. Kyle Cotton led the Eagles with 13 points. Metro State shot 52 percent from the field for the game, while holding Chadron State to only 36.5 percent from the floor. The Roadrunners also held a 31-25 advantage on the boards. Metro State opened the second half with a 17-4 run to blow open the game after leading by 12 at the half, 38-26. With the win, Metro State improves to 13-10 overall, 6-6 in the RMAC, while Chadron State falls to 7-13 overall, 6-6 in league play. The Roadrunners are at Nebraska-Kearney, Saturday at 4 p.m., CST. |
