Defense Leads Metro State To 57-43 Win Over UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Cassondra Bratton scored 13 points to lead Metro State to a 57-43 win over UC-Colorado Springs in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball game, Saturday evening at the Lions' Den.

Metro State outrebounded UCCS, 41-32, and forced 23 turnovers in the contest. The Mountain Lions held a 22-10 advantage at the free-throw line.

Ashley Mickens posted eight points and 10 rebounds, while Paige Powers had 12 points for the Roadrunners. Tonya Tripp led UCCS with 19 points.

Metro State led 27-21 at the half despite shooting just 30 percent from the floor. The Roadrunners led 19-8 just nine-plus minutes into the game.

Metro State has won six straight against UCCS.

With the win, Metro State improves to 15-8 overall, 11-4 in the RMAC, while UC-Colorado Springs falls to 10-16 overall, 4-11 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners host Nebraska-Kearney, Feb. 15.
