DENVER, COLO. - Metro State held Colorado School of Mines to 16 second-half points and defeated the Orediggers, 66-46, in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball game, Friday evening at the Auraria Events Center.

It was only a four-point game at the half, 34-30, and the Orediggers cut it to one, 34-33, in the first two-plus minutes of the second half, but Metro State went on to hold CSM to only 21 percent shooting and four field goals in the final 20 minutes, while forcing 19 turnovers in the game. Metro State scored 22 points off Colorado School of Mines miscues.

Paige Powers scored a season-high 19 points, while Ashley Mickens posted her fourth straight double-double with 10 points and 10 boards for Metro State. Peanut Eickelman was the only Oredigger in double figures with 20 points and she also added five rebounds and three assists.

After CSM closed to within one early in the half, the Roadrunners scored seven straight points to go up by eight, 41-33, and it never got any closer. Metro State shot 11-for-22 from three-point land in the contest, as Powers hit five treys in the game. Metro State also held a 35-30 advantage on the boards and shot 45.8 percent in the second half.

With the game tied at 12 early in the first half, Metro State went on a 16-5 run to take a 28-17 advantage. However, the Orediggers closed the half on a 13-6 run to trail by just four at the break. The Roadrunners had only three turnovers in the first 20 minutes, while Colorado School of Mines shot 48 percent in the first half.
