Lady Runners Split First Homestand of the Season
March 9, 2008
Metro Stated hosted Adams State in a double header Sunday afternoon at Auraria Field. Metro State was able to split two very close games. The ladies lost game one in extra innings 2-1. Starting pitcher, Casey Thompson, pitched a complete game, only allowing six hits in eight innings, and struck out six of the 28 batters she faced. Scoring the lone run for the Roadrunners was first baseman Jessica Haab with her solo shot in the third inning. Game two of the doubleheader was decided by one run as well, this time with Metro State winning 4-3. Libby Balogh came into the game in the fifth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. Balogh wasted no time striking out Adams State short stop Heather Ebert to get the Roadrunners out of the inning. Libby Balogh allowed only two hits, and struck out four on her way to her third win of the season. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, lead-off hitter Jennessa Tesone hit a solo homerun, and her second of the game, to tie the score at three. Not to feel left out, Nicole Lyles (a.k.a. Dante) hit a solo shot of her own to put the Runners up 4-3. With the split Metro State is now 10-9 overall, 6-4 in the RMAC. Adams State is now 13-4 overall, 2-4 in the RMAC. |
