Roadrunners Go 1-1 During Day Two Of RMAC Tournament

GOLDEN, COLO. -- Metro State defeated Mesa State before losing to Adams State at the RMAC Softball Tournament, Saturday afternoon at the Colorado School of Mines Field.

The No. 3-seed Roadrunners defeated the No. 4-seed Mavericks in their first game, 8-0, before their tournament ended against the No. 2-seed Grizzlies, 7-5.

Against Mesa State, Jessica Fisher got the win, giving up just three hits and striking out seven in six innings. The Roadrunners scored in every inning but the third as Jennessa Tesone had three hits and two RBI and Amber Roundtree added two hits and an RBI. Leslie Reed had two hits for the Mavericks.

In the loss to Adams State, Tesone posted three more RBI, while Nicole Lyles and Caitlin Jenks each added two hits. Kymber Keith went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Grizzlies. Adams State led 7-2 after five and a half innings only to see Metro State rally for three runs in the bottom of the sixth. However, the Roadrunners couldn't score in the seventh.

Metro State is now 32-18 overall and must wait to hear if it will receive an NCAA regional berth. Fort Lewis awaits the winner of Adams State and Nebraska-Kearney for the RMAC Championship.
