OXFORD, Ohio--Junior guard Kenny Hayes scored a game-high 21 points, while senior forward Tim Pollitz tallied 20 points and a game-best 11 rebounds to lead Miami University's men's basketball team to a 76-47 win over the University of Toledo on Wednesday evening at Millett Hall.
The 29-point win was the RedHawks' fourth straight triumph and marked the largest margin of victory for the Red and White this season, improving Miami to 11-10 overall and 5-4 in Mid-American Conference play. Toledo dropped to 7-14 overall and 4-5 in MAC action.
Hayes had his third straight 20-plus point scoring effort and has scored 20 or more points in four of the RedHawks' last six games. Tim Pollitz posted his fourth double-double of the season and the eighth of his career. It also marked his sixth 20-point scoring effort of the season and the 19th of his career.
In addition to Hayes and Tim Pollitz, junior center Tyler Dierkers tied a career high with nine rebounds and added eight points, while junior guard Eric Pollitz had a career-high six assists. Freshman forward Nick Winbush recorded a career-high 10 points, while junior forward Michael Bramos added five assists.
The RedHawks recorded season-high numbers in points (76), made field goals (32), field goal attempts (64) and rebounds (42). Miami also had an impressive 21 assists in the win.

The Rockets went on a 7-1 run over the next two minutes to cut the RedHawk lead to eight points with 4:53 left in the half, 25-17. Toledo trailed 30-22 with 3:11 remaining, but Miami rounded out the half on a 6-0 spurt with four points coming from Tim Pollitz to carry a 36-22 lead into the half.
Miami continued to pile on the points in the second half, outscoring the Rockets 40-25. The RedHawks took their largest lead of the game off a Winbush tip-in with one second left to hand Miami the 76-47 win.
Tyrone Kent led the Rockets with 13 points, while Ridley Johnson added 10 points.
As part of BEAT THE STATE OF MICHIGAN WEEKEND, Miami will host Central Michigan University on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the second game of a women's and men's basketball doubleheader. Miami's women host Western Michigan at 2 p.m. with the men's game against the Chippewas starting at 4 p.m. or 30 minutes after the women's game.
Saturday's game also is Hall of Fame Day when Miami will be inducting eight members into its Athletic Hall of Fame: Jim Bohan (Men's Swimming), Dan Boyle (Ice Hockey), Ryan Creech (Men's Soccer), Pam Hall (Women's Track and Field) Jill Joslin (Women's Tennis), Angel Miller (Volleyball), Joe Novak (Football), Ed Wingard (Men's Basketball).
