RedHawks Tied for Sixth at MAC Championships

MAINEVILLE, Ohio - After two rounds at the Mid-American Golf Championships hosted by Miami University at TPC River's Bend, the RedHawks sit in a tie for sixth place among the nine-team field. Miami and Toledo are tied with a two-round total of 613 and trail fifth-place Northern Illinois by six strokes.
Sophomore Brett Tomfohrde paced the RedHawks with a five-over par 144 on the first day. Tomfohrde carded a 75 in the opening round and fired a team-low 74 in the second round. He sits in a tie for 10th place heading into Saturday's third round of the four-round championship.
Senior Nathan Sutherland and sophomore Ben Peacock were 10-over par with scores of 154 after the opening two rounds to sit in a tie for 20th place. Sutherland opened the tournament with a 76 and followed with a 78 in the second round. Peacock shot a respective 78 and 76.
Kent State opened a strong lead, besting its nearest competitor by 25 strokes with a two-round sum of 567 while Ball State is second with 592. KSU's Mackenzie Hughes holds the individual lead, shooting a seven-under par 137 through two rounds.
The 72-hole tournament resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at TPC River's Bend with the third round.
