OXFORD, OHIO - Facing its long-time rivals in the last home meet of the season, the Miami men's swimming and diving team came up short against Eastern Michigan today, 191.50-108.50. The RedHawks finished with a 3-2-1 record at home.

Senior Paul Ricard had an outstanding performance on his Senior Day as he finished first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:28.98, beating his previous season record by nearly four seconds. Ricard then went on to victory in the 500 free as well with a time of 4:38.41. Winning the 200 free in 1:41.22, senior Ryan McHugh added both a win and a new season-best time.

The RedHawks earned five second-place finishes throughout the course of the meet. The relay team of Matthew Grubb, Blake Norman, Jason Hass, and McHugh opened the meet with a second in the 200 IM in a time of 1:35.14. Michael Carroll added another second-place finish three events later in the 100 breast when he finished in :58.99. To end the day, the 400 Free Relay team of Ricard, Zac Siegel, Chase Mortimer, and McHugh clinched second place with a time of 3:07.39.

Not only was today highlighted as Senior Day for McHugh, Mortimer, Norman, Ryan Reinke, and Ricard, but it also marked the end of a 24-year era for referee John Grunwell. Grunwell was added as a Miami staff member in the fall of 1984, and, in a speech by Miami men's head coach Pete Lindsay, was said to have never missed a dual home event.
