RedHawk Track and Field Takes Second at Southern Ohio Cup

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's track and field team took second at the Southern Ohio Cup on Saturday afternoon at the George L. Rider Track in Oxford. Ryan Dezso, Kevin Silver, and Paul Krebs took first, second and third place in the 5000-meters, finishing with times of 14:42.01, 14:44.59, and 14:47.65, respectively. Pat Sovacool and Sam Cosgrove finished first and second in the 800-meters with times of 1:53.57 and 1:54.39, respectively. Michael Veatch won the 3000-meter steeplechase with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:05.26. Jason Coniglio was second in the 100-meter dash at 11.32 and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time 22.77. Dan Beach took second in the hammer throw at 182-5 and fourth in the discus with a mark of 151-8. Chris Skaggs was fourth in the javelin at 160-6. Jake Kuhner and Alex Boiwka were second and third, respectively, in the pole vault, both clearing 15-1. Michael Perry and Robbie Fisher were fourth and fifth in the 1500 meters with times of 4:03.41 and 4:6.43, respectively.
Ryan Sottoway was sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.76. The Miami 4X100 meter relay team of Coniglio, Justinn Eddie, Brandon Kistler, and Kyle Alexander finished second with a time of 41.86. Eddie took fifth in the long jump at 20-7 ¾. Matt Losi was third in the triple jump with a mark of 43-0 ¼. The RedHawks will next compete when they travel to the University of Cincinnati Invitational on Saturday, April 5. |
