OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's track and field team won the Miami Team Challenge at the George L. Rider Track on Saturday, beating out 10 teams and winning 10 events.

The RedHawks totaled 260.5 points, while the University of Buffalo was second with 181.

Pat Sovacool won both the 1500-meters at 3:56.25 and 800-meters at 1:55.04. Cedric Diakabana was third in the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.72. Kevin Silver and Ryan Dezso were third and fifth in the 1500-meters with times of 3:58.76 and 4:02.08, respectively.

Michael Veatch won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:26.67, while Michael Perry and Ben Famous finished fourth and sixth, respectively, with times of 9:58.68 and 10:17.12.

Josh Rees and Kevin Dwyer took first and second in the long jump with Rees edging Dwyer 23-5 ¼ to 23-2 ¾. Dwyer won the javelin with a throw of 183-1, while Kuhner was third at 177-8 and Mitch Reynolds was fourth at 154-7. Chris Skaggs took fifth in the javelin at 153-4.

Travis Brumm won the high jump by clearing 6-6 ¾.

After winning yesterday's hammer throw with a p.r. of 194-1, Dan Beach took fifth in the discus at 148-11, while John Gausmann was seventh with a mark of 145-8. Beach also was sixth in the shot put at 47-11 ¼.

 

 

Jake Kuhner won the pole vault with a height of 15-7. Chris Skaggs at 15-1 and Matt Rudin at 14-7 ¼ were second and third, while Alex Boiwka rounded out the top-5 by also clearing 14-7 ¼.

Matt Kessler won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.56, while Eric Horvath was second at 57.41.

The MU 4X400-meter relay team won the event with a time of 3:23.74, while the RedHawk 4X100-meter relay team was second at 42.09.

Jason Coniglio took third place in the 200-meter dash at 22.15 and fourth in the 100-meters with a time of 10.78.

Justinn Eddie and Steffan Flessa took second and third in the 400-meter dash with times of 49.54 and 50.15, respectively.

Paul Krebs was third in the 5000-meters, finishing in 14:47.56.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Jesse Whitman and Michael McCarty were fourth and fifth with times of 15.30 and 15.38, respectively.

Adam Ruiz was second in the shot put with a throw of 50-2.

Matt Losi was third in the triple jump, bounding 42-9 ¾.

The RedHawks next compete at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday and Saturday at the University of Cincinnati.
