RedHawks Compete at Stan Lyons Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS - The RedHawk underclassmen highlighted the Miami University men's track and field team's trip to Indianapolis for the Stan Lyons Invitational on Saturday. Seven Miami freshmen set lifetime best in their events. Jason Coniglio did so in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, hitting 10.68 and 21.68, and finishing second and fifth, respectively. Justinn Eddie also hit two lifetime besting, running a 21.61 in the 200 and 49.40 in the 400, finishing fourth in both events. Jesse Whitman ran a PR of 15.13 in the 110-hurdles, finishing fifth, while Chris Dennison took 10th in the 5,000 meters with a PR of 15:05.16. In the throws, Adam Ruiz's mark of 52-8 in the shot put was a personal best and placed him sixth, while John Gausmann's 157-8 performance in the discus also was a PR and placed him ninth. Cory Hinton finished fifth in the javelin with a PR of 162-5. Other top finishers for the RedHawk included Ryan Sottoway in the 800-meters, who finished third with a 1:56.52. In the 1500-meters, Kevin Silver placed fourth with a time of 3:57.63. Travis Brumm cleared 6-6 ¾ in the high jump, good for second place, while Jake Kuhner placed sixth in the pole vault at 15-7. Dan Beach had a mark of 182-8 in the hammer throw which placed him third.
The RedHawks will next travel to the Jesse Owen's Track Classic at Ohio State University on Friday and Saturday. |
