OXFORD, Ohio - After a strong showing at the Indiana Hoosier Hills Invitational last weekend, the RedHawk men's track and field team will head to Columbus, Ohio for the Capital University Last Call Meet this Friday.

The RedHawk sprinters continued their impressive start to the season as junior long-sprinter Cedric Diakabana finished third in the 600-meter race with a time of 1:21.58.

Freshman Justinn Eddie later clinched seventh place in a close 200-meter dash in 22.36 seconds, while fellow freshman Jason Coniglio finished eighth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.07 seconds.

Junior distance runner Pat Sovacool earned a second place finish in the 3000-meter in 8:13.69, and senior teammate Michael Veatch finished close behind in 8:16.8, good for third place. Sophomore Matt Carney rounded out the evening for the distance runners when he took 10th in the mile run with a time of 4:23.39.

Sophomore Travis Brumm earned a fourth place finish for the RedHawks when he cleared 2.00 meters in the high jump. Senior Dan Beach clinched another fourth for Miami with a mark of 16.99 meters in the weight throw, while sophomore Mitch Reynolds finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.64 meters.
 

 

The RedHawk men return home for their next competition as they face off in the Southern Ohio Cup on March 29th.
