OXFORD, Ohio - After an impressive second place finish at the Southern Ohio Cup held at home last weekend, Miami's men's track and field team will head to Cincinnati to compete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational this Friday.
Senior Michael Veatch led the RedHawks with a victory in the steeplechase as he finished with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:05.26. Ryan Dezso, Kevin Silver, and Paul Krebs clinched first, second and third place finishes in the 5000-meters in 14:42.01, 14:44.59, and 14:47.65, respectively.
Jason Coniglio, Justinn Eddie, Brandon Kistler, and Kyle Alexander finished second in the 4X100 with a time of 41.86.
Senior Dan Beach added several points for the RedHawks when he finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 182-5. Fellow senior thrower Chris Skaggs earned fourth in the javelin at 160-6.
In the pole vault, senior Jake Kuhner and junior Alex Boiwka placed second and third for Miami as they both cleared 15-1. Freshman jumper Matt Losi earned a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 43-0 ¼.
Miami will once again return home for their next meet on April 11th and 12th for the Miami Team Challenge. Events on Friday will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the action will resume again Saturday at 11 a.m.
