OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University field hockey team dropped a heartbreaker in the MAC Tournament Championship game on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-2 in overtime to the #15 Ohio University Bobcats.

Danielle Gaynor and Alyssa Nye both had goals for Miami, while Taylor Florence added an assist. Nye opened the game's scoring when she netted a break-away goal after a steal in the 15th minute. Gaynor put the RedHawks up by two in the 20th minute when she deflected in a Florence shot off a penalty corner.

Megan Stengel had three saves in goal for Miami, while OU's Jessie Martin had three stops of her own.

Ohio, however, answered with three unanswered goals, including a goal from Rachell Coetzee 10 minutes into overtime, giving the Bobcats their second-straight MAC Tournament Championship.

Miami ends their season at 10-11 overall and has made two appearances in the MAC Tournament Championship game in the last three years.

Ohio advances to the NCAA Tournament and will host the NCAA play-in game against the Patriot League champion on Tuesday in Athens, Ohio.
