OXFORD - Miami continued its success in Mid-American Conference play on Saturday, knocking off the Rockets of Toledo by a 7-4 score. The RedHawks now boast a 6-1 record in conference action.
Driving in three of the team's seven runs was sophomore outfielder Alicia Hogl, who reached base in three of her four trips to the plate, including her second home run of the season. Hogl leads Miami with a .358 batting average, collecting 34 base hits this year.
Shortstop Sarah Billstrom also had a solid day at the plate for the Red and White, doubling twice and picking up two RBI. Billstrom showed her speed on the basepaths, swiping two bags during the afternoon. She is a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts during the 2008 campaign.
Shalise Lugo picked up her sixth victory of the season, allowing one earned run over 3.1 innings. Meredith Linch came on to work the remainder of the game, giving up just one run and striking out three.
The RedHawks will close out their series with Toledo Sunday afternoon, with an opening pitch set for 1 p.m.
