ATHENS, Ohio - Sophomore Karen Frazier and junior Melissa Roemmele won five events combined for Miami University's women's swimming and diving team, but it wasn't enough as Miami fell to Ohio University, 186-114 Saturday afternoon in Athens, Ohio. Miami dropped to 5-4 in overall dual meets and 2-2 in MAC dual meets this season.

Ohio opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay and the wins for the Bobcats continued as Ohio won the next three events before sophomore Karen Frazier led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke. Frazier finished with a time of 1:04.85, freshman Kelsey Vehr followed with a time of 1:06.89 and freshman Megan Brunn rounded out the trio with a time of 1:07.10.

Ohio bounced back from the sweep in the 100 breaststroke by adding wins in the 200 butterfly and the 50 freestyle. Miami was able to bounce back with a sweep in the one-meter dive as junior Melissa Roemmele finished first in the event with a score of 259.98. Junior Alex Enriquez followed with a score of 258.38, while sophomore Kelsey Anagnos finished in third with a score of 257.85.

Junior Allison Stevens finished second in the 100 freestyle, but Ohio added a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 backstroke to give the Bobcats a sizable cushion. Frazier lifted Miami with a win in the 200 breaststroke. Ohio finished the meet winning three-of-the-last five events, but two of the wins came from Roemmele in the three-meter dive and Frazier in the 400 individual medley.

Miami competes in its final home meets of the season next weekend when the RedHawks welcome Kenyon College for a 4 p.m. meet on Friday, Feb. 1, before competing against Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.
