Three Mizzou men's golfers finished among the top seven at the U.S. Open Local Qualifying tournament, played Wednesday at the Golf Club at Creekmoor in Raymore, Mo. Of the 89 participants in the field, six advanced to the sectional qualifying round, which will be played June 2 in Augusta, Mo. After 18 holes of play on Wednesday, three spots were already filled, with six players tied for the final three spots. MU junior Peter Malnati, freshman Will Hogan and incoming freshman Jace Long were among the group of six that shot a one-over-par 73. In the playoff, Hogan advanced after he birdied the 11th hole, the second hole of the playoff. On the 15th hole, which was third hole of the playoff, Long chipped in for birdie to take the final spot. Hogan and Long will play in the sectional qualifier.
