Potter Advances to U.S. Amateur Championship

July 14, 2008

Mizzou's Julia Potter shot 76 on Monday at the United States Women's Amateur Championship qualifier at the Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind. to advance to the U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be played Aug. 4-10 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

Potter's 76 put her in a three-way playoff for the final two spots. A par on the third playoff hole by Potter gave her the playoff win.

Potter joins Lindsey Haupt and Madison Marcolla as MU golfers that have advanced to this year's event. Haupt and Marcolla each qualified last week at the Kansas City Country Club.

Stoke play for all qualifiers for the U.S. Amateur will be played Aug. 4-5. The field will then be cut to 64 for match play, which will begin on Aug. 6, leading up to the Championship match on Aug. 10.
