Day One Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Michigan State track & field team finished up first-day competition at the Jesse Owens Track Classic, hosted by Ohio State on Friday night. Senior Lisa Senakiewich had an impressive finish for MSU as she placed second with a regional-qualifying time of 4:24.24 in the 1500m, while sophomore Emily MacLeod posted a regional-qualifying time of her own, coming in third (4:25.71).

The Spartans finished three in the top 10 of the women's 5000m, as junior Michelle Mercer came in fifth with a time of 17:34.11. Sophomore Becky McCormack finished seventh in the 5000m (17:37.69), while junior Liz Hoefing came in ninth with a time of 18:13.94.

In her first competiton of the outdoor season, Sarah Price turned in a solid performance in the women's 3000m steeplechase, finishing in ninth place with a mark of 10:53.80.

On the men's side, sophomore Ian Boyle had a strong finish for the Spartans in the 1500m, posting a time of 3:50.58 to come in sixth, while junior Dustin Voss finished shortly after, placing 10th (3:52.61).

Michigan State returns to competition tomorrow as action starts at 3:30 p.m. with the women's long jump.
