LAST TIME OUT
The Spartans entertained No. 65 Western Michigan last Saturday, at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing. The matches were very highly contested between both teams, going back and forth all night. The Broncos scored first as they won the important doubles point, which proved to be the difference in the match. Western Michigan then went on to win three singles flights, defeating the Spartans, 4-3.
The Broncos came out tough from the start against MSU, sweeping all three doubles flights, 8-6, 8-5, 8-5.
In singles action, the Spartans fought back as MSU's No. 5 Ana Milosavljevic rolled past Ashley Moccia 6-0, 6-2. Lindsey Lonergan soon followed, downing the Bronco's Amanda Moccia, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4, giving the Spartans a 2-1 lead. WMU picked up its first singles win of the night as MSU's Christine Bader fell at No. 1 to Kerstin Paul, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. After three and a half hours of competition, the last three matches all ended within two minutes of each other. The Broncos finished off the Spartans taking flights six and three, and walked away with the one point victory.
