CENTENNIAL, Colo. -
The MountainWest Sports Network - The Mtn. - has announced that veteran host and broadcaster Bill Doleman will move from the broadcast booth to the studio as a network anchor. He joins Marius Payton to create a new in-studio tandem dedicated to bringing the best in Mountain West Conference news, scores, and highlights to viewers. Doleman has been part of The Mtn.'s football, basketball, and volleyball play-by-play teams over the past two seasons and is expected to assume his anchor duties the week of April 21.
"We are pleased to add Bill's talents to our expanding lineup of broadcasting professionals," said Steve Hurlbut, senior executive producer & director of programming for The Mtn. "When we initiated our search for the ideal candidate to team up with Marius Payton in delivering studio programming for the network, it didn't take us long to realize that person was already within our ranks.
"Bill possesses a wealth of experience as an in-studio host and his knowledge of college athletics is both thorough and diverse. He'll make an excellent addition to our team and we're confident that he will have an instant connection to our viewers."
Doleman was a regular on ESPN's regional coverage of Big 12 Conference men's basketball for 14 seasons and has performed extensive work for several other conferences as well, including the Mountain West and Big Ten. In 2002, he began calling events for the Mountain West Conference and, for the past two years, has been part of the play-by-play roster for The Mtn. A former Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year, Doleman possesses an extensive resume of host and anchor duties, including work for ABC Sports, Fox Sports Net, NCAA Productions, the Big Ten Network, CBC College Sports Network (CSTV), and the ESPN family of networks.
"This is a terrific opportunity for me both personally and professionally," added Doleman. "Throughout my career, I've had nothing but great experiences with the Mountain West Conference, and I've found that from the league office to the schools and, of course, the network that everyone has pride in the product and that they are nothing but first class. It's a unique and special place to be and I'm honored to be able to join the team at The Mtn. and play a role in moving the network into an incredibly bright future."
Doleman joined Lincoln, Neb. radio stations KFOR and KLMS in 2001 as a sports announcer, producer, and play-by-play voice of the Lincoln Saltdogs professional baseball team. Bill was later promoted to the role of program director at ESPN 1480 (KLMS), taking the station to record ratings while developing and hosting the popular Average Joe Sports Show and Going Deep. He left the radio stations to join the Saltdogs full-time as the team's Director of Broadcasting and Communications while continuing his play-by-play duties for The Mtn. during the winter months in 2006. His complete bio is attached.
