SAN DIEGO STATE HOLDS ON TO CONFERENCE LEAD
San Diego State (17-10, 5-1 MWC) remains in first place heading into this week's action, while UNLV (12-12, 4-2 MWC) gained ground in the conference race after a 2-1 series win over TCU (14-12, 2-4 MWC) last weekend. Utah (10-12, 3-2 MWC) took over third place in the standings, while New Mexico (18-10, 3-3 MWC) and BYU (12-15, 3-3 MWC) are tied for fourth. The Horned Frogs and Air Force (9-15, 0-5 MWC) round out the league rankings in sixth and seventh, respectively.

This week's schedule features 20 games, highlighted by Tuesday's TCU- Baylor contest which will be shown live to a national audience on CBS College Sports. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CT.
In other non-conference action, San Diego State visits No. 23 UCLA, UNLV faces Nevada, Reno and Air Force opens its two-game series vs. Doane College on Tuesday. Wednesday's out-of-league slate pits Doane College at Air Force, BYU at Southern Utah, TCU at Texas State and Utah at Utah Valley State.
Conference play begins Thursday night with the first game of the BYU-UNLV series. The New Mexico at San Diego State and Air Force at TCU three-game series start Friday night.
AIR FORCE'S JOSH MEENTS NAMED CANDIDATE FOR LOWE'S SENIOR CLASS AWARD
Air Force's Josh Meents is one of thirty NCAA Division I collegiate baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field and were announced as candidates for the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS (Celebrating, Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School) Award on March 10. Presented annually to NCAA® Division I student-athletes in eight sports, the award focuses on the "Four C's" of classroom, character, community and competition. This marks the second year for the baseball division of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
From the list of 30 nominees, a national media committee will select 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in mid-April 2008. Those ten names will be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote that will include coaches, media and fans. The award winner will be announced and recognized at the 2008 NCAA® Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
