LEAGUE RACE TIGHTENS UP
San Diego State (18-13, 6-3 MWC) leads the MWC standings heading into this week's action. The Aztecs regained the lead in the Conference race with their 3-2, 11-inning win over New Mexico (20-11, 5-4 MWC) last Sunday. The Lobos won the first two games of the series to tie SDSU at the top of the league race. UNM, TCU (19-12, 5-4 MWC), UNLV (13-15, 5-4 MWC) and BYU (14-17, 5-4 MWC) are all tied for second place in the standings, with Utah (12-14, 3-2 MWC) and Air Force (10-19, 0-8 MWC) rounding out the rankings in sixth and seventh, respectively.

THIS WEEK IN THE MWC
Six MWC teams will be participating in league play this week, with the second game of the UNLV at TCU series showcased live on The Mtn. Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. In other conference series action, first-place San Diego State will host Utah and New Mexico will take on Air Force in Farmington, N.M. BYU will be in non-conference action this week, facing Washington in a three-game tilt starting Thursday in Seattle.

This week's non-conference two-game series play features, San Diego State State hosting No. 22 Arizona, UNLV at Stephen F. Austin and New Mexico at Texas Tech. In single game action, BYU hosts Utah in a non-conference battle, while TCU takes on 30th-ranked Baylor. All non-conference games start Tuesday.

AIR FORCE SETS MWC RECORDS VS. DOANE COLLEGE
Several team and individual Mountain West Conference Baseball records were set and tied in Air Force's 37-13 win over Doane College on April 2. The Falcons 37 runs scored broke the previous Conference record of 36 runs scored (San Diego State), which was set in 2006. AFA's 34 RBI tied the league record, also set by SDSU in 2006, while its four sacrifice flies also equaled the MWC all-time top mark.

Individually, sophomore Matt Alexander's 11 RBI was a new MWC record, surpassing Utah's Nate Weese's (2000-02) mark of 10 RBI set in 2000, while sophomore Addison Gentry set a new Conference mark with seven runs scored. Alexander's two triples tied the all-time league record, while freshman Jeff Abt and Nathan Carter were each walked four times, tying an MWC record. Alexander also became the first Air Force player since 2004 to hit for the cycle.
